Hey this is it! Our first Grenache! We've been devouring bottles of Grenache from all over the world for years getting to know its personality. The whole time, looking for California vineyards where we could find the fruit needed to make the wine we were shooting for. Finally in 2012, these vineyards materialized for us. Both of them from steep, rocky sites that get minimal irrigation, have hot days, and cool nights. Perfect for grenache, as the resulting wine from vines grown under these extreme conditions really sings! Struggling to just survive, they double their reproductive efforts by putting extra energy into their fruit, relly concentrating flavor and color.

Grenache has been one of my favorite wines to drink for a very long time. For years I had been searching for fruit that I felt would make the Grenache that I wanted to drink. Well we may be onto something here. We sourced this fruit from 2 vineyards within the Sierra Foothills appellation. At both sites, the soils are meager, helping to keep the yields low, with hot days and cool nights to encourage a balanced ripening with no need to adjust or manipulate the wine.
